Attention

9 Apr

I’m not going to say anything new here, however I am going to say what astounds me.

The center of every human being is a watcher. An attention, nothing more and nothing less. Everything else is piled onto that attention. Our thoughts are separate from that–we hear or see them in our heads, the attention is there. Our physical feelings are noticed by that attention. Our emotions hold our attention for a time as well. They are systems placed on top of this attention, sort of like a tiny little soldier in a bunker that’s filled with input coming in all the time from the outside world.

Pay attention to that part that notices–it’s like being in a mirror tunnel, where you notice your attention that notices you back and you notice you noticing you back which brings about more noticing and on and on and on.

How lovely it is! How simple!
